DO under 3.0 and 3.1 was notorously buggy, the memory leaks being one of the key problems. This has been steadily improved, and with EOF/Foundation and 3.3, DO works very nicely.

I had loads of problems with memory leaks in 3.0 Distributed objects.
Heven't gotten around to testing for it under 3.2 yet. It seemed that
somewhere deep inside a small object was lost every time you created
